How secure was the USSR´s control over Eastern Europe, 1948-c. 1989?: Solidarity
How secure was the USSR´s control over Eastern Europe, 1948-c. 1989?: Hungary & Czechoslovakia
Hungary
This was the last message sent by Hungarian people which rose up against Soviet rule in 1956 and demanded freedom in their country. At the end of the Second World War, Hungary was on the losing side. It had fought alongside of Nazi Germany, against the Soviet Union.
By the end of the war Hungary was being ruled by Soviet Power, it became a satellite state of the Soviet Union.
Czechoslovakia
In July 1968 the Soviet leadership announced that it had evidence that West Germany was planning an Invasion of the Sudetenland and asked permission to send in the Red Army to protect Czechoslovakia. Dubcek refused. However, a month later troops from countries across the Warsaw Pact, led by the Soviets, invaded Czechoslovakia. Knowing they stood no chance the Czech government ordered its armed forces not to resist the invasion. The culture of reform known as the “Prague Spring” was crushed.

How similar were events in Hungary in 1956 and in Czechoslovakia in 1968?
How secure was the USSR´s control over Eastern Europe, 1948-c. 1989?: Berlin Wall
There was social arrest due to the following reasons:
Quality of life in the West was much better than in the East after 1948. West Hermany had received financial help through the Marshall Plan from USA to rebuild after the devastation of WWII, East Germany had suffered under a communist system after the control of the Soviet Union had been established.
The impact of this mass movement on East Germany was huge.
Socially: Those who left were young and well educated, so red a “brain drain” in East Germany.
Economically: East Germany lost skilled workers.
Politically: Mass numbers were leaving and it made the communist regime look unpopular.

How secure was the USSR´s control over Eastern Europe, 1948-c. 1989?: Warsaw Pact
This source is a secondary source since this is about the Warsaw Pact and it is a cartoon for a British magazine even though it was drawn in October 1956, at the time of its existence.
This source is portrayed as a circus, the ringmaster is Khrushchev, leader of the USSR, who is trying to tame the bears, which in this case, represent countries that were involved in the Warsaw Pact. On the stool which each bear is situated it says the name Oda country, in all these stools there is a bear, except for the one that says Yugoslavia since it was never a part of the Warsaw Pact, the bear can be seen in the back of the cage trying to escape. When analyzing the other bears one can notice that the bears in Poland and Hungary are trying to leave the stool, or the Warsaw Pact, when seen deeper than just a simple glance. The ringmaster is not happy about this as can be seen by the position of his body and he is getting ready to whip the bears. The other three bears that are remaining, Albania and Bulgaria, which seem pleased and obedient, and then Czechoslovakia who’s is clearly tired and is giving in to rest.
The source uses a metaphor to explain a serious matter, in this case, the Warsaw Pact.

paper 4: U.S.A. essay writting 2
The paper 4 in the I.G.C.S.E. exam asks you to write an essay on to a depth study that in this case is U.S.A. this essay had to be based in the following question:
How important were republican reactions to the wall street crash as causes of Roosevelt´s success in the presidential elections of 1932?
In the year 1932, there were new presidential elections in U.S.A., Roosevelt won them. Republicans reaction to the wall street crash take a big role in U.S.A. people opinion. There are two points of view, if the republicans helped or not the new president to win the elections.
On the one hand, the republicans were the head of the U.S.A. because they won the presidential and their new president was Hoover, he paid the price for being unable to solve the problems of the depression. Hoover was regarded as a "do nothing president" because the people of the U.S.A. say " In Hoover we trusted and now we are busted" this mean that the U.S.A. people trusted in Hoover but he wasn´t a good president so these bring major problems in the depression. In the year 1930 and 1931 he tried to restart the economy by tax cuts, also he set up the reconstruction finance company, this helped the banks by not going to bankrupt and also he wanted to help U.S.A. industries by establishing tarffs however, this bring a worse depressions.
On the other hand, people in the U.S.A. said thatthey need a salvation, this mean that they wanted a new president who can solve all the problems that the "do nothing president" did, so the idea was to elect a new president with a different point of view of the depression and this president was Roosevelt the democrat candidate. The plans of Roosevelt for his presidencial were four and each of them were important for the U.S.A. to get out of the depression, they were, getting americans back to work, protecting their savings and property, providing relief for the sick, old and unemployed and getting american industry and agriculture back to their feet.
As a conclusion, we can say that Roosevelt victory can be seen that the two points of view, gives him the victory beacuse of the incapacity of Hoover and the capacity of Roosevelt to take control of the U.S.A. government.
Herbert Clark Hoover

Franklin Delano Roosevelt

How important were credit and hire purchase as a reason for the economic growth in the USA in the 1920s?
How important were credit and hire purchase as a reason for the economic growth in the USA in the 1920s?
In the 1920´s U.S.A. had a very important growth in economic, two reasons of improve were credit(a way of buyingsomething in wich you arrange to pay for it at a later time and hire purchase a method of paying for something in wich you pay part of the money owed immediately and the rest in small regular amounts until the whole amount is paid, the two of them take a big role in the improvements of the U.S.A. country.
On the one hand, in this time the banks and the people had confidence between each other so this led the people to ask for credits and hire purchases in the bank and the banks with the confidence gives the money to everyone that ask for them. This bring some changes, one of them is that the people with low income of money can buy the new manufactured goods also the new inventions of the time like the radio and the other change was that in the U.S.A. there were many new millonaires from investments based on borrowing money that consists on buying things and selling them immediately when the prices had rices.
On the other hand, people started to speculate in the buying of things so they started to buy shares of companies and invest many in them. In addition, the hire purchase appear more in the industries such as the motor industries. In this period the U.S.A. economy growth really fast, in fact the U.S.A. lent money to all thei allies and also sold of munitions and arms to Great Britain.
As a conclusion, we can say that the credits and hire purchases were beneficial for the country, however people used them a lot and they speculated too much so this brings problem to the U.S.A. country.
